Help me break the lock off the front gate As far as I can see, there's no more reason to wait Help me take down the fences that we built There ain't no point in crying out over this hill of beans we spilt And I can't keep my guard up for you no more And loving me shouldn't have to be a chore And I know it could never be like it was before So I won't keep my guard up for you no more Help me get this wounded look off of my face It doesn't remind me of myself and all the efforts gone to waste And I'm sorry for the tracks I left behind But to simply let it slide, you really are too kind Still I can't keep my guard up for you no more And I'm afraid that you're behind every door And if my pain to end is all I'm working for Why keep my guard up anymore? Anymore... When I ask you, "Are you in or not?" You say, "I'm here, let me clear my thoughts." When I offer you another round You go and pour my whiskey out Now I ain't gonna get all sore But I know I told ya many times before That my heart, it ain't as strong as yours I can't keep my guard up for you no more No I can't keep my guard up for you no more There's a rain cloud over your head I can't ignore And I just don't bag it out before it starts to pour Cuz I can't keep my guard up for you no more I can't keep my guard up...

Maybe I'm looking this all wrong and there's just nothing wrong at all with what I'm doing. Maybe I'm over it and maybe it's time to quit and now I'm just kicking it all back to you and... I know I blew my brains out somewhere down the line But I cannot remember when or why it got this way It got this way Well the train rolls by in the middle of the night and sometimes I think about leaving town Other nights I laugh as I stumble down the tracks, just waiting for the damn thing to come and run me down. I know I blew my brains out somewhere down the line But I cannot remember when or why it got this way It got this way I know I blew my brains out somewhere down the line I know I blew my brains out somewhere back in time I know I blew my brains out somewhere down the line But I cannot remember when or why it got this way It got this way It got this way It got this way It got this way...

I was killed on a beautiful day we should all be so lucky to go that way. It was a quick passing, it was painless and I wouldn't do it different even if I could change it. I knew eventually that something had to break, just didn't think that it would be today. Well I born again on the blackest night without a cent to my name and not a soul in sight. But I knew I wasn't doing as bad as I might so I went looking for someone I knew in my past life. I knew that someday that I'll forget my name just didn't think I'd live to see the day. In the parade of souls that fell from God's hand I dropped into the body of a thin white man. And I scrounged for a place among the Americans Seeking to be understood but never to understand Because above all the rest I must meet my demands Even if it takes the life from me.

We've taken control But if you dance We might save your soul When it's time to work, I get down to it I know when and when not to fight my way through it I hope you like my methods, but if not I hope you like my hustle cuz my hustle's what I got I'm not in my own little world It's not about you girl I've been watching the signs and its Dancing time It's too late. Cry baby cry, why don't you? Eyes open wide, why won't you? Why won't you? Before you park it on the carpet... Dry dry skeleton Drive by on Chicago Avenue Wake wake from a salt flat sleep Take a break from a sun-dried dream Shiver shutter sputter straight to the marrow Tightened talons to the lungs of a sparrow You can't hold the water You can't hold the water Cry baby cry, why don't you? Tides on the rise, why won't you? You can't hold the water You can't hold the water Skin and bones won't hold the water You can't hold the water When you're flying, what use is the ground? When you're up, what use is the down? Maybe baby if you squeeze a little harder Your pretty palms could hold a bit of water. Squeeze a little harder...

You walked into the room, my heart stopped moving. Couldn't pull my eyes away from you, just sipping from your bourbon. You laughed with all your friends, then you touched her hand. And there you sat together, two. There was nothing I could do. I know I can't have you. You'll never feel it too. She don't deserve a man like you To treat you like the way she do With all the fights and all the blame How could any love remain? I've loved you since the start, It tears my world apart. Only music that we make And no one's heart will break. And no one will be wise, Except these watching eyes. But none of you will say a word, Make this promise to me. I know I can't have you. You'll never feel it too. Loving you is strange, there's no way to rearrange. Forwards and backwards, it's always the same. Why can't I call you? Why can't I write? Could hide in the corner or I could put up a fight.

You burning a dollar to light your stove I got them holes in my zapatos Ooooh, I know, we're broke, on the dole Please Ben Bernanke, you gotta help me through this I spent my allowance, need your monetary prowess I'ma clean up my act for good You and me, raised on the same street. I flunked out right after Bob Kennedy. Your PHD, your MIT, won't you lend me your securities? Like a teenage driver on the phone, you see you borrow from impossible I'm on the street, my feet are wet, it's just this once I thought you said. Please Ben Bernanke, you gotta help me through this I spent my allowance, need your monetary prowess I'ma clean up my act for good I'ma clean up my act for good and I have had enough lows and highs and highs and lows to know that only faith is gonna carry me through. Is gonna carry me through But I have faith in you

If I could be More like my mother, a lot like my father and less unsavory. We'd take a trip Back to Chicago where all the wind blows and set our minds free. You always said you wanted to know the truth I just wanna know how things got so bad for you The truth is I'm so tired from all of this. If I could be More like my mother, a lot like my father and less unsavory. We could take a trip Back to Chicago where all the wind blows and set our minds free. You always said you wanted to know the truth I just wanna know how things got so bad for you Well, the truth is I'm so tired from all of this. We have retired from all of this We've learned what we will miss Your body's not gone so far from here Soon it will disappear We have retired from all of this We've learned what we will miss Your body's not gone so far from here Soon it will disappear We have retired from all of this We've learned what we will miss Your body's not gone so far from here Soon it will disappear I am so tired from all of this And I've learned what I will miss My body's not gone so far from here And soon it will disappear

Well well well It can happen quick, yeah it's just a trick Performed with smoke and mirrors I see those two anyway In my day to day And even if it's not, we'll all say it's great Trade some spice and lace To get a whole ca-ca-case of mace Empty one can in one eye, MVP is aerosol Now don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive? You can crack it with your teeth That don't bother me If you'd rather see a busy father be(e) While the mother reads and baby daughter feeds An older brother needs help Cuz his evil deeds Tell all those little bees In the colony That he's fallin', see? So let's see him fall We could see it all Little streaks of yellow and black, those yellowjackets... It can happen quick, yeah it's just a trick Performed with smoke and mirrors But I see those two anyway In my day to day And even if it's not, we'll all say it's great Trade some spice and lace To get a whole ca-ca-case of mace Empty one can in one eye, MVP is aerosol Now don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive? Don't you feel alive?

Far from here, I saw it clear Far from here, I saw it clear And I've had it though, this is not compatible We can hideout in the attic and listen to static stereo And I've had it though, this is not compatible We can hideout in the attic and listen to AM radio And I've had it though, don't you know That this is far too soon And I've had it though, and don't you know That I need someone This is where I saw it, I thought I brought it Could have never gone without it, no doubt about it This is where I saw it, I thought I brought it But never got it, no doubt about it Hey! Never gonna let it Go! Never, never gonna let it Go! Never ever gonna let it Go! My God it's happening again, again. As you've heard, I'm lost inside today I'm not asking for your pseudo-sympathy Oh my God it's happening again, again. But they stare and they stare through the dark and the night And they wait and they stare and they wait, where's the light? And they stare and they wait and they wait and they stare And they grasp and they pull at their hair, where's the air? They stare and stare and stare through the dark through the night And they wait and they wait, where's the light?

about

A discography of my drumming.

Bio:
When I was five years old, I used to roll up the rug at mom's house, put on Michael Jackson's "Dangerous", and spend hours trying to master my moonwalk on the delightfully slippery linoleum floor. I'm 38 now and still channeling that manic energy of feeling music shock through every pore. I started playing drums at age 5 and grew up performing in about every kind of group you can think of: church choirs and orchestras, marching bands and reggae bands, hip hop and ska/punk, concept Mars Volta-esque rock and classic jazz combos. And this has imbued me with a vocabulary and appreciation for a wide range of styles and musical goals. Richard Davis, one of the 20th century's best bassists, told me in his performance class, "I don't know what you got, but you sure got it." My goal when working with artists is to create a customized musical palette for painting the vision for your music and to make a song instantly have signature and movement. I promise that I will make you a better musician and make you love the process of creating art.
