Drawn baby drawn, the curtains to the floor Sewn like a doll, I'm certain of the floor Sprawled like a welcome mat, I'm deadbolting the door I'll hide my love away I'll hide my love away I saw you off Did I not? I saw you off. Baby listen, listen so close. A warm September, I loved you so true Yes I meant on Stinson Boulevard Your love its my breath Your love is in my breath Well I saw you off Did I not? Yes I saw you off.

August Water 03:22
Cry baby cry, why don't you? Eyes open wide, why won't you? Why won't you? Before you park it on the carpet... Dry dry skeleton Drive by on Chicago Avenue Wake wake from a salt flat sleep Take a break from a sun-dried dream Shiver shutter sputter straight to the marrow Tightened talons to the lungs of a sparrow You can't hold the water You can't hold the water Cry baby cry, why don't you? Tides on the rise, why won't you? You can't hold the water You can't hold the water Skin and bones won't hold the water You can't hold the water When you're flying, what use is the ground? When you're up, what use is the down? Maybe baby if you squeeze a little harder? Your pretty palms could hold a bit of water. Squeeze a little harder.

Unmade 03:45
And the greys yield to green. I open my eyes, curious again Bed, still warm with vice Leave it unmade, Leave it behind Slip out in the night Watch the sun's rays Flare to the sound of a flight Willing to fall, Willing to climb And the greys yield to green And the greys yield to green The present is a cloud, formless and free The present is a cloud, formless and free The present is a cloud, formless and free
4.
Open Road 03:32
Time and the open road Nothing in my bag, nowhere to go I saw you painting signs, dressed in your fancy clothes I took another road. Burning matches, lighting fires Run into ice water. My hands aren't tired and your shoes are brand new. Honestly, I'd honestly be, some place a little more free Where the old trees grow. Honest as honest can be, what's a missed opportunity? Not on the open road. Take me west where stars can breathe Take me west where stars can breathe Oh take me west where stars can breathe Oh take me west where stars can breathe

Vision 20/25 03:13
Shed your tired skin Begin again Mountains rise, they're astronauts. Sister of mine, Don't you remember the climb Through our tangled roots? I was barely two. Sister of mine, Don't you remember the crime? Wasn't it just a flash and a blur? Vision 20/25 Vision 20/25 Like father, like daughter, no time for another. A mother, the water, like glass this will shatter. From ashes to matter, from ashes this matters. Vision 20/25 Vision 20/25

Where have you been? Do you know what time it is? 409, On the kitchen counter. Purple wine, And a furious something. In the early light, O Celeste! What a silhouette! Had me from the starting pistol Falling like a breath. How foolish to believe that the wind it blows against me. It's aims are just so low as to stop my forward motion. Come in, anam cara. The future tense, What a gift to give! You weather vanes, You show direction. Rusted wings, rested wings. Ready to take to flight. How foolish to believe that love would wait until I'm ready. It's aims would be so high as to stop my forward motion. Come in, anam cara.

The train the runaway Waiting for the right of way Spin the wheels, light the candles. Waiting for the night you'll stay Next to me in Winnipeg Mind a spinning wheel of prayers. Tell my feet, my brain, my ribs n my lungs, my fingers Not to stray Please darling stay. Bright flags and a breath of air An offering, my heart I lay Bright flags catch the breath of her Standing face to the sun.

Big Wig 02:38
Aren't we a fine lot of birds? Told to flap our feathers as far as they are heard? Anywhere, anywhere, anywhere where we can go That's where we will go. I came, I went, I came and I went, I came, I went, I came and I went. Aren't we a fine lot of birds?
9.
Run 04:20
Won't you run so far away? Won't you run so far away? Oh run far away Won't you run so far away?

about

I wrote these songs over the course of a year, during which I learned to write songs. I have been a musician my whole life but have only recently acquired the right patience, inspiration, and tools around me to write this music. So each song represents a different snapshot of looming in my basement long enough to trade in some social skillsets in the pursuit of a hymn. These are certainly mere sketches to hopefully one day be turned into ink. Enjoy.
